Oxfam Evening at Friend's Meeting Houser in Kendal
From 7:30pm until 9:00pm women who work with Oxfam in Senegal will be talking at the Friends' Meeting House in Kendal about how the clothes donated to clothing banks are turned into jobs through an Oxfam initiative called Frip Etique.
And South Lakes Oxfam volunteers will join them and tell everyone how people in Kendal can get involved in a Ceilidh dance and a sponsored walk across Morecambe Bay to raise money for similar Oxfam projects around the world.
Frip Ethique is an Oxfam-run initiative based in Senegal’s capital, Dakar.
The South Lakes Oxfam group, a group of committed volunteers who, in the last year alone, have raised almost £1000 through coffee mornings and other events, is recruiting for new members for 2012.
All are welcome to attend tonights event which starts at 7.30pm
Mood Indigo Blues Open Mic Night is back
Our first Blues Night back in November was a red hot success, so here we go again!
The next in our series of Blues/Jazz Nights takes place at Kirkby Lonsdale Institute on Sunday 19th February from 7 -11.00pm.
Its Cool Blues...meets...Smooth Jazz as we feature our very own INDIGO Blues HouseBand and the first sessions by Blue Suede Blues featuring INDIGO Programme Presenter Paul Rossi and "friends".
It promises to be an interesting evening. Entry is £2.50 in advance by tickets from the Art Store in Main St Kirkby Lonsdale (£3.00 on the door). Drinks and Light refreshments will be available

Charity night for Preston Neuro Unit
In february of this year our son Callum was involved in a serious car crash on the A65,he sustained many serious injuries from which he is now recovering well.
We are now raising money for the Preston Nuerological Rehabilitation Unit who are largely responsible for the final part of his recovery.
We are having a disco at the Kirkby Lonsdale Rugby Club on 12 Nov at 7.30 onwards. Tickets are £5.00 to include food and disco, there will be a raffle on the night with lots of great prizes,tickets for the night and raffle tickets available from The Animal Emporium, Market St and The Sweet Shop, the Square, Kirkby Lonsdale.

Lunesdale Music Blues & Boogie Night
Legendary British Blues Band “Paul Lamb and the Kingsnakes” are coming to play in Arkholme Village Hall on Saturday 12 November 2011. Led by the great harmonica player Paul Lamb, the Kingsnakes will be headlining an evening of live blues and boogie and will be supported by local blues pianist Boogie Bill Roberts and local bands The Swarm and Black Cat.
This is the second annual Blues night organised by the Lunesdale Music Collective and they have taken a huge risk booking a headline act and so need your support. It will be a great night, so come and catch the Kingsnakes, described by “Rhythm and Blues” magazine as “one of our great British bands”.
